1. Planting: This plant prefers to be grown in average, well-drained soil and thrives in areas with full sunlight where it can receive 6 to 8 hours of sunlight daily. It can also tolerate some light shade. It’s important to avoid heavy, wet clay soils as they are not suitable for this plant. While it grows well in medium to wet soils, it is also drought-tolerant, allowing it to withstand periods of low water availability. When watering, make sure to water deeply to promote healthy growth.
2. Watering: When watering your plant, make sure to water it when the top 2 inches of the soil are dry. It’s crucial to water this plant regularly during the first growing season to help establish a strong and extensive root system. Once the plant is fully established, you can reduce the frequency of watering.
3. Fertilizing:Before the new shoots appear in late winter to early spring, it’s important to trim back the plants and then apply a general-purpose fertilizer. This will help support healthy growth and development as the new growth season begins.
